MTO-based thinner, also known as mineral turpentine oil (MTO) thinner, is a solvent used to thin paints, primers, and varnishes. It's made from petroleum and is a clear, water-white liquid. MTO thinner is made up of different proportions of paraffinic, naphthenic, and aromatic hydrocarbons.  MTO thinner can be hazardous, and can cause skin, eye, and inhalation irritation. If you come into contact with MTO thinner, you should:

• Eyes: Flush with water for 15 minutes
• Skin: Wash with warm water and soap
• Inhalation: Remove to fresh air
• Ingestion: Get medical help immediately 

You should also wear safety goggles or a face shield, rubber gloves, and an organic vapor canister or air-supplied mask when handling MTO thinner.
